Researchers: Tap into a New Source of Funding – find out how at our SBIR/STTR workshop

As it gets harder and harder to find funding to move your innovation from the bench to the marketplace, SBIR grants are more important than ever. If you need some help in making SBIR funding a reality, or in perfecting your ability to compete for these awards, join us for our upcoming SBIR commercialization workshops.

SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) is a federal program administered by 10 agencies for the purpose of helping to provide early-stage Research and Development funding to small technology companies or individuals who are interested in forming a company. The federal government will spend over $2.2 billion on SBIR and STTR awards this year.

The first workshop, “SBIR Primer,” will give you a taste of the SBIR Grant so you can decide whether to sign up for the next full-day workshop. Over lunch, Dr. Donn Dennis and Dr. Kevin Wang, two researchers who work with local UF startups and have written and won several SBIR grants, will share their perspective on why this funding source is an important tool in commercializing your research.

As a group, we review an actual SBIR proposal and critique it using the tools you learned during the day. This workshop is run by Jim Greenwood of Greenwood Consulting, nationally known for helping companies and entrepreneurs like you achieve success in these programs.
