Poster Session & Reception

Our annual research poster session is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the strength of our research mission and programs, to appreciate the scope, quality and distinction of the science, and to launch new partnerships through vibrant, robust conversations. Let us celebrate the future as we join together in advancing discovery through innovation, collaboration, and inclusive excellence in research!

Poster Awards

Once again, the College of Medicine Office of Research will be awarding Outstanding Poster Awards. These awards recognize the most outstanding posters with categories to recognize individuals at various career stages and in several major areas of focus within the College. Only the primary author (first presenter) of the poster, as entered in the submission form, will be eligible for the award.

Outstanding Poster awards will be given in each of the following categories:

  • Clinical Sciences
  • Data Sciences or Artificial Intelligence
  • Basic and Translational Sciences
  • New Opportunity Award – for research into topics related to health disparities

In each category, one award will be given at each of the following career stages, based on the primary (presenting) author’s status at the time of the poster session:

  • Predoctoral Level: Medical, Physician Assistant, PhD, and Masters students
  • Postdoctoral Level: Postdoctoral Fellows/Associates, Medical Residents and Fellows
  • Early Stage Investigators (College of Medicine faculty members within 10 years of career initiation)

Eligibility Criteria

  • The nominee must be listed as the first presenter of a poster (according to the submission system) submitted on time on the Fourwaves site.
  • Must have current affiliation with UF College of Medicine
  • Must submit a visual abstract as part of your abstract submission.
    • A visual abstract (VA) is a simple and accessible way to convey an overview of your research. A VA begins with a key question and background info on the study. It ends with icons that represent main ideas from the research and a brief description of the outcomes. That’s all! Be sure to include straightforward imagery and not overly complex graphs or charts pulled from your study. Include citations and authors where needed.
    • For more information on visual abstracts and how to create one, the UF Health Creative Services team has put together this resource: https://creativeservices.ufhealth.org/identity-standards/templates/visual-abstracts/
    • Examples of visual abstracts submitted previously can be seen below

Selection Process

  • College of Medicine faculty members will review all properly submitted abstracts. Abstracts may include up to 500 words and 2 figures or tables, uploaded to the Fourwaves site.
  • Top nominations will be sent to the Senior Associate Dean for Research for final decision.
